Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)

  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced

  • 4 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped

  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed preferred)

  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    Instructions

    1. Combine the Ingredients

    • Place the softened butter in a medium mixing bowl.

    • Add all the remaining ingredients: garlic, parsley, chives, thyme, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

    2. Mix Thoroughly

    • Use a spatula or sturdy spoon to mash and stir everything together until the herbs and seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the butter.

    • Scrape down the sides of the bowl a couple of times to ensure everything is well incorporated.

    3. Shape into a Log

    • Lay a sheet of plastic wrap flat on your work surface.

    • Scoop the butter mixture into the center, forming it into a rough log shape—either long and thin or shorter and thicker, depending on your preference.

    • Bring the plastic wrap up around the butter and roll it into a tight log, pressing and shaping as you go.

    • Twist both ends of the plastic wrap to seal securely.

    4. Chill Until Firm

    • If the butter has become too soft and wants to slump, refrigerate it for 10 to 15 minutes, then reshape it into a log.

    • Refrigerate the wrapped log for at least 1 hour, until firm enough to slice cleanly.

    5. Serve or Melt

    • To serve, unwrap the log and slice off rounds as needed.

    • Place a slice on hot steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or warm bread—and let it melt over the food.

    • For a dipping sauce, gently melt a portion in a small pan over low heat. Do not microwave the entire log unless you plan to use it all at once, as repeated heating and cooling can affect the texture.

    Pro Tips for Best Results

    TipWhy It Helps
Use fresh herbsDried herbs won't give the same bright, vibrant flavor – fresh makes a big difference here.
Soften butter properlyLeave it at room temperature for 30–60 minutes until pliable but not melted. Too soft and it won't shape well; too firm and it's hard to mix.
Taste before chillingAdjust salt or lemon juice to your preference while it's still soft and easy to blend.
Slice with a warm knifeDip your knife in hot water and wipe it dry before slicing for clean, neat rounds.

    Serving Suggestions

    • On grilled meats – steak, chicken, or pork chops

    • With seafood – shrimp, scallops, or salmon

    • Over vegetables – roasted asparagus, green beans, or corn on the cob

    • On carbs – baked potatoes, pasta, or crusty bread

    • As a dip – melted and served with warm bread or soft pretzels
